Plum Cottage is on the edge of Medstead village in Hampshire,UK.

There is countryside on 3 sides of the Cottage. It is between Alton town and Winchester city. There are lots of country footpaths to walk, historical buildings and places of interest such as author Jane Austen's House and Naturalist Gilbert White's house .                                        There is large selection of pubs and restaurants locally.                              Plum Cottage has ample off-road parking and WiFi  is available

The garden changes with the weather. Flowers brighten the garden in spring and summer and leaves and berries brighten the garden in Autumn and Winter

Wineries Tour

 

There are vines over the fence at the end of our garden. Hattingley Valley  sparkling wine has won awards. You can book a tour at https://www.hattingleyvalley.com/tours

Places of Interest
The City of Winchester has lots of old buildings and a huge Cathedral that is open for visitors 
The nearby towns of Alton, where there is a great collection of Ceramics at the Allan gallery and the Curtis Museum with local historic items. 
Jane Austen House

 

Jane Austen lived in a house in Chawton . It has a lovely garden and lots of information when taking a tour of the house. Cassandra's Cup opposite her house has delightful teas and cake

Leisure Activities

 

In Selbourne there is a lovely walk up the ZigZag path to the woods on the ridge. There is a lovely view of the countrside from the top of the Zigzag path. There is a lot of trees and wildlife such as deer and birds and some interesting cattle. Then after working up an appetite there is a Restaurant,Pubs and a Tea-room

Selbourne

 

The Victorian Naturalist, Gilbert White's house is in Selbourne. The house and garden have been kept in the same style as when he was living there. As well as this there are exhibitions of the Oates brother, Frank who was a pioneer in Africa and Lawrence who was the Antartic Hero on the Scott Antartic Expedition
